Increasing concerns about energy dependency on imports, global climate change, declining air and water quality, and health considerations are contributing to the increased use and constant expansion of biodiesel blends, as renewable, clean burning diesel alternatives.
NextDiesel biodiesel is a clean-burning fuel made entirely from renewable and recyclable resources. A practical alternative to traditional petro-diesel, NextDiesel biodiesel is compatible with diesel engines without mechanical modifications or adjustments.
The subject of extensive research and testing, NextDiesel biodiesel, which consistently meets ASTM D6751 standards, is a sensible alternative fuel that is environmentally sound and offers a host of practical benefits for the consumer and the economy.
NextDiesel biodiesel can be used in pure form (B100) or may be blended with petroleum diesel at any concentration in most modern diesel engines. Much of the world uses a system known as the "B" factor to indicate the amount of biodiesel in any fuel mix. For example, fuel containing 10% biodiesel is labeled B10; 20% biodiesel is labeled B20. Pure biodiesel is referred to as B100.
The Future of Biodiesel
As petroleum prices continue to rise while availability diminishes, the
use of alternative, and renewable fuels in particular, is certain to
increase.
Biodiesel is at the forefront of this movement. After thorough testing, biodiesel is now approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Transportation (see Energy Policy Act of 2005.)
Also encouraging is the fact that more and more States are beginning to mandate the use of a biodiesel blend in all on-road petroleum diesels sold. School districts and municipal buses are also turning to biodiesel blends. Lower emissions and higher lubricity are properties of biodiesel that help to reduce vehicle maintenance costs.
Continued increase in the use of alternative fuels, particularly highly effective renewables like biodiesel, is certain and certainly wise.
